Their team is built around survivors from the Tipperary U21 team that lifted the All-Ireland title in 2010. They reached this stage by virtue of a 1-18 to 0-17 Munster final triumph over Clare in McDonagh Park in Nenagh last month and have kept faith with the side that won that clash. After the disappointment of the senior sides All-Ireland championship exit, there is an opportunity for Tipperary to claim some hurling silverware here.

All are welcome to The Quiz which starts at 9 and where there will be bumper raffle as well. Animals here have better living quarters than the vast majority of these people. Not alone that, but their volunteers can also be found all over African countries providing solace and material comfort to those unfortunates who through no fault of their own are living in desperate conditions. The group led by Kerry born John O Shea are currently playing a key role in helping out on the ground in the aftermath of the South East Asia disaster. A Table Quiz is being organised to help the Irish Aid Agency, Goal, who do such marvellous work in the Third World Countries. This is a call for all quiz buffs to go for 'Goal' in the Brandon House Hotel on Monday night the 24th of January. The Tsunami may be gone but the devastation and destruction left behind is beyond instant comprehension and 150,000 plus people have perished. Goal personnel are at the pit face helping the survivors to get their lives together again as best they can. So, please organise your table of four at a cost of only ?20 and enjoy a night of fun and at the same time help a very good cause.

However Thomastown kept going and got a deserved equaliser when Conor Walsh scored one from close range following a great run by Barry Whelan. Both sides were evenly matched in the opening quarter but New Oak took the lead when the Thomastown defence gave David Carson too much room to score from the edge of the box. It was Whelans blistering pace which began to cause all sorts of problems for the New Oak defence and it was no surprise when he netted one early in the second half to give Thomastown a 2-1 lead. The rest of the match then belonged to the very impressive Conor Walsh who went on to complete a hat-trick with one goal scored direct from a corner. Thomastown U-11's got 2005 off to a good start when they defeated New Oak Boys 4-1 in Carlow. This was definitely a much improved showing by Thomastown with Shane O'Neill, Robert O'Hanrahan, Ritchie Reid, Willie Murphy and goalkeeper Mark Walsh most impressive.
