Ballintubber (@1.2) vs Knockmore (@4.5)

Our Prediction:

Ballintubber will win

Ballintubber – Knockmore Match Prediction | 24-08-2019

The championship started with a group stage and progressed to a knock out stage. Sixteen teams competed with the winners going on to represent Mayo in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship. The winners received the Paddy Moclair Cup. The 2018 Mayo Senior Football Championship was the 117th edition of the Mayo GAA's premier gaelic football tournament for senior clubs in County Mayo, Ireland.

Knockmore were rattled with Andy Hanleys long range point minutes later, underlining as much but in Aidan Kilcoyne they had a sharp and incisive threat. In fact if it wasnt for David Drakes tremendous long range effort bang on the stroke of half-time, Ray Dempseys chargers would have gone into the break on a high. He scored all of their six points in the first half including three just before the break.

Subs: Robert Hennelly (Breaffy), Chris Barrett (Belmullet), Eoghan Reilly(Castlebar Mitchels), Ruaidhri OConnor (Ballintubber), Ronan Rochford (Crossmolina), Lee Keegan (Westport), Barry Moran (Castlebar Mitchels), James Gibbons (Ballintubber), Cillian OConnor (Ballintubber), Aidan Kilcoyne (Knockmore), Mark Ronaldson (Shrule-Glencorrib). Mayo (NFL Division One v Monaghan, 10/4/2011): David Clarke (Ballina Stephenites); Cathal Hallinan (Ballintubber), Alan Feeney (Castlebar Mitchels), Keith Higgins (Ballyhaunis); Peadar Gardiner (Crossmolina), Ger Cafferkey(Ballina Stephenites), James Burke (Ballymun Kickhams, Dublin); Seamus OShea (Breaffy), Tom Parsons (Charlestown Sarsfields); Aidan Campbell (Swinford), Andy Moran (Ballaghaderreen), Kevin McLoughlin (Knockmore); Enda Varley (Garrymore), Alan Freeman (Aghamore), Jason Doherty (Burrishoole).

And we bet not very many of you predicted a Tyrone win in your Allianz Leagues match predictions! But its onwards and upwards as we look ahead to Monaghans visit in just under three weeks time and hope that some lessons have been learned. After a strong opening weekend it smarts to concede points on home turf, particularly to this type of game when weve seen it deployed so many times before.

Pat Havern who scored 0-03 against Tipperary is also a good footballer, while Donal OHare and Jerome Johnston will also be looking to come up with the scores. In defence, they are very stable, they have players like Brendan McArdle, Darren OHagan and Kevin McKernan. Firstly looking at Down. They played Tipperary in the first round of the qualifiers at this venue where they won 1-13 to 1-10. Down pushed Armagh all the way in Ulster only losing out by a point 2-17 to 3-13, things could have been a lot different if they won that game. That incidentally was their first qualifier win in 5 years. Paddy Tally is a very good manager he knows what it takes to win and he will try everything to win this game for the Mourne County.

Well, that was a dour old affair in MacHale Park yesterday. All in all really it was a day for blankets we even spotted a few in the stand! As the blanket of freezing fog enveloping Castlebar started to lift, Tyrone brought a blanket of their own with them down the N5 and proceeded to smother the life out of the game in what was a frustrating day out.

In the event of two teams finishing on the same points total, placings were decided by head-to-head record between the teams, then by scoring difference. All teams played one home match, one away match and one match at a neutral venue. The top 2 teams in each group qualified for the Quarter-Finals while the bottom team of each group entered a Relegation Playoff. All 16 teams entered the competition at this stage.

Countdown is on to the 28th of June when The John West GAA File Peile 2019 gets underway across Connacht GAA. We are looking forward to a fantastic weekend of football.. Present were Mayo Team Captain and Ballintubber StarDiarmuid O'Connor. We are delighted to host Irvinestown GAA. MayoGaa #Feile2019 Some photos from earlier this evening.

Mayo have good players all over the field, Brendan Harrison, Keith Higgins, Lee Keegan, and Paddy Durcan are all excellent footballers in defence. A better performance will be expected and a win, of course, this time around. In saying that they only lost that game by a point but some of the football played was quite poor. Mayo have really disappointed me this season. Aidan OShea will likely partner Matthew Ruane in midfield. Darren Coen, Fergal Boland and Diarmuid OConnor will be key players in the attack. James Horans side beat New York in the Connacht quarter-final, before going on to lose to the newly crowned Connacht Champions, Roscommon. A loss here and I can see a couple of retirements from the team.

The deadline for completing your mini-league predictions is, I guess, midday tomorrow so best get cracking on that too. If you want to take a punt at this, just drop me an email with your predicted score in tomorrow nights match between Dublin and Down (which will be televised live on Setanta Ireland) and, as back up, give me your prediction for the Donegal/Antrim match as well. There are still two places to be claimed in the draw for the years sub via satellite to Setanta Sports, with the added attraction of the weekly prize of a copy of Breandan O hEithirs Over The Bar (I still havent posted copies to the last three weekly winners, by the way bear with me, lads, the wait will be worth it when you eventually get them). What with bank stress tests, Fools Day and thoughts about the upcoming weekend to consider, itd be easy to forget about those predictions for the weekend games so heres a quick reminder: dont forget to do them.
